What is hosting?
Hosting means that you found a home for your Web site on our Web servers, which are stored in a secure, climate controlled environment and are connected to the Internet via high speed data lines.

We can also help you register your Domain Name, which becomes your unique Web address. Having your own Domain Name suggests you have your own Web space, and since email can be addressed to your domain (e.g. www.yourname.co.uk), you will not have to announce a new email address if you change Internet providers.

Explain your UNLIMITED plans.
The term "Unlimited" is often misunderstood. Unlimited, by our definition, means that we do not set any quotas for web space and bandwidth. Your website will not suddenly go down without notice because you have exceeded your bandwidth quota, and incoming email will not suddenly stop because you have run out of disk space to store new emails. But excluded from our unlimited service is CPU and Memory, because CPU and memory have physical limits.

Memory is like petrol in the tank, when the petrol is finished the car stops - when the memory is exhausted the server cannot function. CPU is like the engine of a car. If you have an average sized car with an average sized engine, but hook a huge heavy juggernaut trailer to the back of it, it will really struggle to tow that trailer and may even be unable to move it at all.

Our platform is a shared hosting system with several hundred websites on each server and sharing the CPU (power) of that server. If a website is very large and very busy, it will use most of the servers' CPU which will result in a poor performance for all websites sharing the power from that server. When a website gets too busy, it can no longer operate on a shared server because there is not enough power to efficiently run all the other websites and also this very large website all at the same time. This is when it needs to be moved onto a VPS or dedicated server where it does not have to share power with other websites. This is also the natural limit of our unlimited web hosting service.

Furthermore, our unlimited web hosting service is only available for web hosting, FTP and email. We DO NOT offer an unlimited online file storage service. Watch for the inode scam or Go here for more.

Immediately, if you sign up for an account with server Boxter. And within 1 and 12 hours when signing up for any other hosting account. Domains registered can take from 1 hour to 24 hours to go live.

Do I have unlimited access to update my pages?
Yes. You can edit your website any time day or night. For security reasons we have introduced file locking to accounts hosted on server Boxter and Pluto servers will include this feature shortly. We require this because of the many PC viruses circulating that steal passwords stored in your FTP programs. We recommend that you do not store passwords inside your FTP software for this reason. Instead, manually re-enter passwords each time you need to use FTP.

If I sign up for Annual payment, do I have to pay in one lump sum annually?
Yes. You will automatically be billed in one lump sum at the annual rate when you sign up. You will be billed again that same lump sum one year from your anniversary date, unless you request that payment should be changed to monthly. If you decide to move to another ISP before your annual or 2-yearly payment has been used up, we will refund the difference. We do not refund partial months - if you decide to cancel you account on the 2nd day of a particular month, we can not refund prepaid fees for that month.

What content is NOT allowed on your servers?
You may not host adult content and satanic materials, or anything illegal. You cannot offer for download from your site programs, music and video of which you are not the copyright holder. You cannot use your account as your online hard drive to store files which are not connected to your web site. Accounts which host such content will have these files deleted or may be terminated without notice and without a refund. If in doubt, always check with us first.

How do I promote my site to the search engines?

What are referral logs and does X9 Internet offer referral logs?
Referral logs tell you the web site from which visitors reached your page. Using this information, you can tune your online advertising to maximise traffic to your site. We provide this information in the form of domain names of the referring pages (not IP addresses), making it easier to interpret and analyse. This is offered under all our plans in the Control Panel.

Do you provide dial-up Internet access?
Currently we only offer free dial-up accounts to UK and US customers. We can also provide broadband up to 24 Mb if your line can accept that.

What is considered SPAM?
SPAM is any unsolicited email. If you are going to send email to potential customers you should sign up for an 'opt-in' email list. These are lists of email addresses for people who ask to be emailed to on a specific topic, and it states that they signed up to be on that list at the beginning of the email. X9 Internet hosting accounts can not be used for the purpose of sending bulk unsolicited mail and are subject to immediate termination without refund.

Can I change my billing cycle at any time?
Yes. Just call our Help Desk and request the change in billing cycle. You will be credited the amount of money left on your account toward the new charge.

Billing notification is by email. You can also renew at any time by login into your account manager. Except for monthly plans, we do not keep card details and will not automatically charge your card for a renewal.

What happens when I go over the data transfer allowed on my account?
You will be notified via email when you are continuously exceeding your limit for two successive months by more than 20% each month of your allocated quota. This email will encourage you to upgrade your account. If you are exceeding your limit for three successive months by more than 20%, you must upgrade your account or reduce your data transfer rate to prevent suspension of service when your account next reaches your limit. Instructions on how to upgrade your account will be included with the email we send you.

You can easily monitor your data transfer in your control panel. Or opt for an unlimited hosting account for greater peace of mind.

What is the size limit of each email?
We limit the size of each email to 20 Mb. If you need to send files larger than 20 Mb you can use a file compression program to break the file up into chunks of just under 10 Mb and then send each chunk attached with an email.

If I cancel before the end of my hosting term, do I get a refund?
Refunds are calculated by charging the monthly rate for the months you have used and refunding what balance remains on your account. We do not refund partial months.
