Why
only stick with a CO.UK or COM
domain?
We
can answer that: You trust these domains!
They are normally managed by organisations
which are responsibly and well managed,
such as Nominet in the UK or Network
Solutions in the USA and their network of
accredited partners such as X9 Internet.
You may be sceptical about registering a
VG domain issued by an authority based
somewhere on an island. You may wonder if
they offered support, and will their dns
servers remain online when there is a
power cut?
The truth is that dns for domains issued
by smaller countries such as the British
Virgin Islands and Bahamas etc., is
normally always hosted from large
datacenters based in the US, the UK and
also in several other modern countries,
all at the same time. The chance of
working with a VG domain for your website
and your site going down, because there is
a power cut when some sharks nibbled
through the electric cable, is ZERO. It
simply will not happen, never. All members
of Icann must adhere to strict regulations
which include 100% dns uptime at all
times, and all countries, including tiny
ones which comprise of just a few small
islands, are all Icann members.
Running your website with the .GD
extension is just as safe as running it
with a .COM or .CO.UK extension.
How do search engines look at domain
names?
Domain extensions are generally ignored
nowadays. Some years ago, it was common to
get results for UK sites only, because the
search engine figured out by your IP
address that you were in the UK. But that
got quite frustrating when you were
searching for best hotel deals in Spain,
and you were expecting to see results from
sites based in Spain, and this method was
soon abandoned.
If your site is all about brain surgery,
it will get listed for a search on this
subject to anyone anywhere in the world,
irrespective of your site's domain
extension, be it com, co.uk or a Korean
extension.

Non
UK domains can make interesting
web identities
You may own a scuba diving school
named Go Diving and whilst the
domain GoDiving.co.uk may be a
good domain for your school, the
domain GoDiving.ww.gd may be more
to the point - the GD bit at the
end of the domain referring to Go
Diving. We can also help you with
GoDiving.GD if it is available,
but that domain will more
costly.
The domains listed to the left,
offer excellent opportunities in
creating unique identities for
your niche, such as
LowerCholesterol.ww.lc with the
last bit, the LC, standing for
Lower Cholesterol. Other examples
may include your initials, such
as BrettSutton.ww.bs and so on,
and they are completely free with
any X9 hosting account.
These domains are managed by X9
Internet from dns servers located
in the UK, the US and
Germany.
You do not need to host these
domains with X9 Internet. You can
set your own nameservers, but we
do make a charge for £4.90
for a 2 year registration.
